We join 100 musicians from Chicago and beyond in the midwest premiere of John Luther Adams' Inuksuit, the first musical event to utilize the entire space of Millennium Park. This hour long immersive performance is designed to heighten awareness of the sights and sounds that surround us every day, energizing the experience of our own environment. Presented by eighth blackbird and directed by Doug Perkins.

The New Music Ensemble performs the music of Pulitzer Prize winning composer David Lang. Scheduled for performance is Anvil Chorus, Lend/Lease, Revolutionary Etude #2, Wed, Simple Mix, Stick Figure, Little Eye, and Cheating, Lying, Stealing. A post-concert audience dialogue with David Lang follows, moderated by Professor John Schuster-Craig

Our annual composition competition continues, as GVSU student composers create 60-second works in response to the Art Gallery show Mystery, Magic, and Mayhem: Wonders from the American Museum of Magic. A judging panel chooses three cash awards, and the audience favorite wins a prize as well.

We perform selections from our art gallery show for K-8th graders. Plus a variety of excerpts to feature individual instruments, and then sound painting with Mrs.VanderJagt's 1st and 2nd grade class.

A variety of music is presented, from Bach to the present day. Performances by the Early Music Ensemble, Pablo Mahave-Veglia director, New Music Ensemble, Bill Ryan director, and special guests, including Lamont Christian's 1st and 2nd grade music class, Dan Rhode, director.
